Community fund
Two percent for the block.
Two percent of every pass and membership goes into a fund that makes small, fast grants to the neighborhoods we work in.
Homeroom works because the blocks around us work — the café that roasts our coffee, the park where members eat lunch, the bookstore that hosts our reading club. The fund is how we pay that back.
How it works
- Grants run $500 to $2,500 — small enough to move fast, big enough to matter
- Anyone can nominate a project: block parties, tool libraries, storefront repairs, murals
- Members at each location vote on their neighborhood's grants quarterly
Recent grants
- New shade sails for the Boylan Heights playground — Raleigh
- Startup stock for the Northshore tool library — Chattanooga
- Winter lighting on the Fifth Avenue block — Pittsburgh
